About the Program

MBU | Bachelor’s | Online – As of today, there are no other programs like ours that exist in the state of Virginia and there are a few that exist nationally.  We developed the Autism Studies and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) major to meet the needs of our community as well as our student population who is driven by service-oriented work with diverse populations. There is a need for more individuals to enter the workforce with training and a specialized set of skills to meet the needs of those on the spectrum.

A major in Autism Studies & ABA will provide you with the skills necessary to work with individuals and provide support to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in schools and in the greater community.  This program will also provide you with the coursework covered on the Board Certification exam for becoming a Board Certified assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA).*

We also offer an option for students to extend a year in order to complete their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree and a Master of Science (MS) degree.  The MS degree would be in Applied Behavior Analysis.

*Additional requirements for eligibility to take the BCaBA Board Examination include a degree and supervised fieldwork.  Fieldwork is not required as part of the BA or MS program and must be obtained independently of the program.
