Average Time to Complete On average, students take two courses per term, including the summer, and take three to four years to complete the degree. Many are able to finish sooner, or some students choose to move more slowly, taking up to seven years.

About the Program

UVA | Bachelor’s | Online – The UVA School of Continuing and Professional Studies’ Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) degree is a degree-completion program offering a broad interdisciplinary education. Individuals transfer to UVA as third-year students and complete at least 60 credit hours at UVA to earn the BIS degree. A total of 120 credit hours is required to complete the degree.

Students pursuing the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree online can choose between a concentration in business, or liberal arts. For the concentration in business, you will choose from courses in commercial law, marketing, organizational behavior, managerial finance, international business, and more.

For a concentration in liberal arts, combine courses from the Humanities–art, art history, architectural history, classics, literature, music, philosophy, and sociology and the Social Sciences–anthropology, economics, government, politics, history, psychology and sociology.
