Accessing the Library
Accessing the Library
The Roanoke Higher Education Center Library serves the students, clients, faculty, and staff of the Center. We are not a public library. To access the library, you will need an RHEC library card and will sign in using our touchscreen system.
Current students, clients, faculty, and staff affiliated with one of our member institutions may apply for a free library card online or at the circulation desk. You must provide proof of your current status, such as:
- University or school identification
- Valid institutional email address
- Signed letter from a member institution
Community Borrowers and Guests
Current students, faculty, or staff affiliated with an institution participating in VIVA’s Cooperative Borrowing Program may receive a community borrower card at no cost and can apply online.
Anyone not affiliated with either the Roanoke Higher Education Center, a member institution, or a VIVA cooperative borrowing institution may apply for a community borrower membership at the circulation desk for a nominal annual fee to check out library material. A community borrower card does not grant access to library computers or other privileges.
Guests participating in meetings, training sessions, or day rental activities at the Center may request temporary library access from library staff.
