Development Internship (Unpaid)
Hours: 8–16 hours per week, with occasional nights and weekends as needed (unpaid)
Timeframe: May to Late August 2025
Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and resourceful intern to collaborate with our Development Officer in organizing and executing the 25th Anniversary Celebration. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in fundraising, event planning, and donor relations. Key responsibilities include engaging with in-kind donors, coordinating auction item collections, assisting with event logistics, and supporting essential administrative tasks. The celebration culminates on August 23, 2025, with an exciting milestone event which you will help bring to life.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage in-kind donation requests
- Collect and organize donated items for silent and live auctions
- Prepare and personalize solicitation materials
- Assist with mailing and tracking of solicitation letters
- Research matching gift opportunities for existing donors
- Draft and format donor communications
- Participate in the planning, setup, and execution of the 25th Anniversary Celebration
Requirements
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with internet research
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Google Docs (experience with Adobe Creative Suite is preferred)
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and take initiative
- Comfort in a fast-paced, dynamic office environment, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience in marketing, communications, or nonprofit development is advantageous
We are looking for candidates who excel in communication, organization, and research. A demonstrated ability to be persistent, resourceful, and detail-oriented is essential. Previous interest or experience in fundraising is a significant plus.
The Development Officer will work collaboratively with the faculty member if this assignment is tied to a class project.
