Diagnostic Medical Sonography, General Concentration

Offered by: Sovah School of Health Professions
Type: Associate's
Format: On site

About the Program

* In the Fall of 2023, the Sovah School of Health Professions partnered with the Roanoke Higher Education Center (RHEC) to pilot a satellite Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with the shared goal of expanding access to imaging education. We are incredibly proud of the achievements and growth that have taken place over the past two years. After a thoughtful and thorough review, the School has made the difficult decision to discontinue the satellite program beyond the current cohort of students, who are on track to graduate in August 2026. The program will conclude once this cohort successfully completes their studies. *

Our program is a two-year, full-time program. Our General Sonography Program consists of three areas of study: Abdominal-extended, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Vascular Sonography. The Sonography program has small class sizes, and the professors are committed to the successful growth of students in their chosen career paths. The smaller classes allow the professors and students the opportunity to get to know one another and allow for engaging conversations around the subject matter being taught, creating a student-centered, focused educational experience.

Courses will be offered synchronously, with in-person labs at the Roanoke Higher Education Center, and clinical rotations at some of the best clinical sites in the Southwestern Virginia Area.
