About the Program

Project Discovery is designed to stimulate first-generation college-bound students through information and encouragement. Activities include cultural workshops, guidance in class selection, SOL and SAT preparatory classes, workshops in both financial aid and college life, and college campus tours.

Project Discovery s curriculum offers students a place to define and build their character and their self-esteem through relationships established with one another and their Program Specialist.

Cost & Financial Aid

There is no cost to approved clientele for this program.

SAT fee waivers, college fee waivers, and Project Discovery scholarship opportunities are available, as well as assistance from other qualifying scholarships.

TAP’s programs are designed to offer career and educational opportunities with low-income people and their families in mind. While programs can vary, the strategies and resources TAP programs collectively offer cover a wide range of needs:

  • Classes and workshops to prepare students for tests and certifications (incl. GED)
  • Coaches and advisors
  • Job placement partnerships with local employers

How to Apply

The Center for Educational Opportunities is located at 108 N. Jefferson Street in downtown Roanoke, Virginia. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
