About the Program
The Southwestern Virginia Regional Employment Coalition (SVREC) program provides work experience opportunities. Clients are placed at non-profits across the community to gain valuable skills that can be used once they obtain permanent employment. Basic application completion, resume writing, communication and time management skills are also taught as needed. Our goal is to place all referred clients into a meaningful work experience.

As a student of the Roanoke Higher Education Center, you will have access to:
- Library collections and services
- Student Success Center
- Career Center
- Computer lab and student lounge
- Cafe serving breakfast and lunch
- Free parking with a student parking pass
TAP’s programs are designed to offer career and educational opportunities with low-income people and their families in mind. While programs can vary, the strategies and resources TAP programs collectively offer cover a wide range of needs:
- Classes and workshops to prepare students for tests and certifications (incl. GED)
- Coaches and advisors
- Job placement partnerships with local employers
How to Apply
Potential clients must be referred by the Department of Social Services Virginia Initiative for Employment not Welfare (VIEW).
The Southwestern Virginia Regional Employment Coalition is located at the Roanoke Higher Education Center, 108 N. Jefferson Street, Suite 503 in downtown Roanoke, Virginia.
