Event Parking Validation

Parking & Validation Process

Day rental guests should use the Gainsboro Parking Garage when attending events at the Center. Please be advised that all city-owned parking garages use a technology-based parking system managed by Park Roanoke/Metropolis.

The Roanoke Higher Education Center (RHEC) does not manage parking validations for Day Rental events. Parking validation/payment is the sole responsibility of the Day Rental client and their guests/program participants. To ensure an efficient experience and avoid citations, please follow the instructions below.

 

Day Rental Clients:

If you wish to validate parking for your guests/program participants:

  • Contact Park Roanoke at 540-343-0585 or parking@parkroanoke.com at least one week prior to your scheduled event to set up your organization’s account and obtain your customized QR code.
  • Print and display the QR code for your guests/program participants the day of your event. Your guests will simply scan this code with their mobile device on the day of your event in order to validate their parking. 
  • Your organization will be billed by Park Roanoke/Metropolis for these validations. 
  • The Roanoke Higher Education Center will not have a copy of or access to your organization’s QR code.

 

Day Rental Guests/Program Participants: 

If you do not already have a Metropolis account, you may:

  • Sign up before you arrive, by visiting app.metropolis.io/sign-in and following the prompts, OR
  • Sign up when you arrive by scanning the QR code posted in the parking garage with your mobile device and following the prompts, OR
  • If your organization has validated your parking, scan your organization’s QR code with your mobile device upon arriving at your event.
  • Prompts will require vehicle information (including license plate), telephone number, and payment/credit card information.
  • Please note that if you scan your organization’s customized QR code during your event, your credit card will NOT be charged. You will receive a receipt via text message showing $0.00 is due for that parking session.
  • Never display QR codes on the dashboard of vehicles.
