Financial Aid
Our goal is to make education accessible to everyone. While we don’t offer financial aid services at the Roanoke Higher Education Center, we can offer some general advice on finding educational funding through your institution, government grants, and loans, or private scholarship resources.
Contact the Financial Aid Office
For most people, education is a serious investment that requires financial planning. Colleges and universities generally have an office dedicated to helping students understand their options and find and apply for financial aid. Contact the institution’s financial aid office as soon as you find a program you’re interested in. They can provide advice and counseling for your situation, and help you find out what types you’re eligible for.
Do Your Research
You can also start with some research on your own. The Federal Student Aid website will guide you through applying for FAFSA and how to find and combine different types of aid. And you can see if you might qualify for federal funding using their financial aid estimator.
You can also search free online scholarship databases like FastWeb to find money from companies, foundations, and other non-government sources.
