Summer Math Camp Assistant Instructor (Temporary, Part-Time)
The Roanoke Higher Education Center seeks enthusiastic and responsible Assistant Instructors for our 4-week Summer Math Camp serving rising 3rd graders. Morning staff will support academic instruction and small-group math engagement under the direction of the Lead Instructor
Position Details:
- Type: Temporary, part-time
- Location: Roanoke Higher Education Center
- Camp Dates: July 7th – July 31st, 2025
- Hourly Rate: $16.00/hour
- Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Training: Paid, mandatory training in June
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Instructor with daily math lessons and instructional activities
- Support campers in small group rotations and interactive math games
- Help monitor camper progress and engagement
- Contribute to maintaining a structured, safe, and positive learning environment
- Collaborate with fellow camp staff during daily morning programming
Qualifications:
- Interest in math and helping young students succeed academically
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfort with elementary-level math concepts
- Reliable, team-oriented, and willing to learn
- CPR/First-Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in tutoring, classroom volunteering, or educational youth programs
- Babysitting or informal work with children
Additional requirements:
- Must be available for all four weeks of camp
- Must pass a background check
